Tamil New Year Vikari 5120 celebrations and 30th Anniversary of Tamil Sangam in Saint Denis de la Reunion took place on April 27, 2019 in the gardens of Crédit Agricole’s head office, in Cambiaire Park in Saint Denis.
The evening was inaugurted by the President of Tamil Sangam Association Dr. Selvam sanmougam. He filed the petition to the French Government to demand a holiday on the occasion of Tamil New Year April 14. Then, the ambassader of India Mr. Ramesh BABU chairs the speech to promote Indian culture in Reunion. The former Minister of Education Mauritian Mr Arumugam Parasuraman expressed the human values and non-violence in modern society by recalling Mahatma Gandhi and Tirukural. He took the opportunity to distribute the French translation of the Tirukoural literature to the personalities of the event. The speech comes to an end with the speech of the representatives of the region and the Department.
The Tamil New Year celebrations continued by Indian dance spectacles, baradanathiyum and folk dances of southern India. A fashion show conceived and organized by our vice president of the association Tamij Sangam, Yola NEBA, in partnership with Misha Boutique of Saint-Denis. The Mauritian and Tamil segatier guest of Mauritius, Mr. SAMYNADEN Yogendra for a cocktail of Tamil and Creole songs.
The evening was closed with a cocktail served to all guests.
